Classes
At full capacity, The Winchcombe School takes in 30 children per class and usually there are two classes per year group, three for bulge year intake.
A Learning Journey
At The Winchcombe School we strive to ensure learning is engaging, high quality, personalised and allows every child to meet their potential.
Foundation
Your child will start their school life in our Foundation unit (aged 3 to 5 years) where the space incorporates role play creative play and quiet areas. There are large, secure outdoor learning areas.
Key Stage 1
Your child will then progress to Key Stage 1 (age 5 to 7 years) which is split into Year 1 and Year 2.
Key Stage 2
Your child will then move to Key Stage 2 (age 7 to 11 years) where Year 3 and Year 4 are Lower Key Stage 2, and Year 5 and Year 6 are Upper Key Stage 2.
Speciality Learning Centres
The Speech and Language Resource (SAL) together with the Language and Literacy Centre (LAL) provide specialist teaching for children with specific needs and support the whole school with their expertise and knowledge.
School Council
A role within the school council allows a child to develop important skills and attributes. Any child interested in becoming a member is invited to stand for election each year and are voted in by their peers. There is a member from each class in every year group between Year 1 and Year 5, plus speciality roles for members from Year 6.
Curriculum
Each year group has their own tailored curriculum overview which can be used using the links for each year group page in this section.
