Parents
Working Together
We see your child's education as a partnership and expect support from families at all times. This includes ensuring your child comes to school everyday and is on time, supporting any home learning tasks given by teachers and signing the home school agreement. We want you to be an active member of school life.
We will hold regular parent consultations and information sessions and keep you informed
of your child's progress and give you an annual written report. It is important that we work together.
Attendance
Going to school regularly is important for your child's future. For example, children who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work.
We are required to record details of pupils’ attendance and absence at school, at the beginning of morning and afternoon sessions. If your child is unwell, please call our School Absence Line on 01635 232780 and press 1.
Holidays in term time cannot be authorised and may incur a Fixed Penalty Notice in line with West Berkshire Coulcil and Government policy.
Our Attendance Policy can be downloaded here: /page/?title=School+Policies&pid=21
Open Door Policy
We have an open door policy and you are always welcome to visit the school. Please call at the school office first. You are always welcome to make an appointment to see the Headteacher to discuss any school matter.
If you have concerns or worries about any aspect of your child's education do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher or the Headteacher. We usually resolve difficulties through informal meetings but, if necessary, there are formal complaint procedures available at the school office.
We welcome parents at school assemblies, particularly those at which their children are involved. Please try to come along to our Celebration Assembly - where we celebrate children's good work - held every Friday at 9.00am.
Home / School Agreement
We recognise the crucial role that parents play in helping their children learn and we firmly believe that children achieve more when school and parents work together.
Parents can contribute more effectively if they know what the school is trying to achieve and how they can help. Together with parents and governors we have written a Home-School Agreement which provides the framework for such a partnership and which outlines the roles and responsibilities of both home and school. Each child's parents are asked to sign the agreement when their child starts at our school.
Parents Evenings
You will be invited to attend parents evenings in the autumn and spring terms, at which you will be able to discuss your child's learning and targets for the coming year with the class teacher. These consultations are a vital part of the partnership between the school and parents.
In the summer term, you will be sent a full written report with levels, grades, target reviews and teacher comments, and you can request a consultation if required.
Parent Helpers
We are always pleased to discuss the possibility of parents helping within the school. We consider that it is valuable for the children to meet a variety of adults with whom they can work and share experiences.
At any time many parents are involved in school activities on a voluntary basis, working with groups of children under the close guidance and control of the class teachers. Please see the School Office in the first instance if you would like to help in any way.
